Megeve

Originally a prime destination for the French aristocracy at its creation a century ago, Megeve with its views of the Mont Blanc has become one of the most exclusive ski resorts in the Alps, where millionaires, Royals and celebrities mingle together.

I’ve spent a lot of time in Megevè (during both winter and summer) and it’s an absolute delight to behold.
Here are some places I’d recommend (this post will focus on winter - I might do a summer in Megevè post in the future).
Mountain Restaurants

Ideal 1850
Stunning terrace in the sunshine or cosy inside by the fire on a snowy day. I highly recommend the pizza with melanosporum black truffle & baby rocket leaves (€56). I also love the poké bowl with salmon & avocado (€29) and the sea bass (€42).

Cafe Woody

L'Alpette

La Folie Douce
Expect live music & cabaret shows, dancing on tables & drinking rose with this lively après-ski scene. Champagne & expensive bottles of wine delivered by a mini télécabine in clouds of coloured smoke make for a fun atmosphere.
Restaurant La Caboche

La Petit Crêperie
Always love a pit stop at Ladurée for tea and macarons (rose and cafe are my favourite flavours).

Some of the restaurants I recommend to visit in Megève Village:
Le Bistro Megeve (the rice pudding is amazing)
Le Hibou Blanc
Le Delicium (Italian)
Kaito (Japanese at Four Seasons)
La Ferme Saint-Amour (restaurant by head chef of Le Bristol - Eric Frenchon) Party atmosphere.
Le Prieuré
Flocons de Sel (3 Michelin stars)
Le 1920
Chamois (great fondue)
Fun Activities:
Dog Sledding can be organised at Four Seasons Megeve.

Luge (fun in summer and winter)

"Laluge" Sledging

You can take snowmobiles up to a mountains restaurant and sledge down (this is for teenagers and adults, not suitable for younger children).
If its raining children/teenagers might enjoy the laser tag, arcade and bowling in Sallanches and the cinema is also close by, check the schedule for English language movies, as they are few and far between.
